RULES: CHILDREN UNDER 5 NOT ALLOWED ABOVE BASE & Proper footwear required. Free admission. Reservations not required. NOTE: Climbing the lighthouse requires significant physical exertion on 44 steps followed by 8 steps on a ladder. Anyone not wishing to climb is welcome to visit the base of the lighthouse for a brief history. Tours may be cancelled due to inclement weather.

Families work together in the historic Green Briar Jam Kitchen making white marshmallow fudge, butterscotch pennies and chocolate truffles to take home. All materials are provided. Space is limited to a 5 person maximum per family. Children must be at least age 6 to work in the kitchen. The fee is $25 per family.  Advance registration is required by calling 508-888-6870.

Visit with Peter to discover winter signs of wild animals. Create plaster casts of common Cape Cod animals to take home. Explore along the Briar Patch Trail for signs of who is out and about.  Fee: $5.00

Following the great success for last year’s event we have decided to do two encore presentations (Dec 27, 2010 & February 21, 2011). Bring your own Teddy and join us for honey cakes with honey yogurt topping and black birch tea. Listen to a special story time presentation about Buster Bear. Create a paper bag bear puppet to take home. Fee: $5.00

 

Annual Festival of Trees

Under the imaginative eye of Wendy Hudson, chair, the Whaling Museum will once again be transformed into a festive winter wonderland.  This island tradition will feature around eighty brilliantly decorated trees designed by community members, local merchants, nonprofit organizations, artists, artisans, and schoolchildren. This season, the festival will remain open Thursday to Monday through December 20, and will reopen on Saturday, December 26 and 27, 1 – 4 P.M. and again January 2 and 3, 2011, 1 – 4 P.M. Admission is $15.00
