Take the chill out of winter with laughter… MOON OVER BUFFALO by Ken Ludwig at the BCC January 12-29, 2012 The Barnstable Comedy Club, 3171 Main Street, Rte. 6A in Barnstable proudly presents Moon Over Buffalo, a comedy by Ken Ludwig.  The show opens on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. with performances continuing through January 29th on Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2:30 p.m.  Tickets are $18/ $16 Seniors (62+) & Students and may be reserved by calling the box office at 508-362-6333.  More info may be found at http://www.barnstablecomedyclub.com.   Directed by Ann M. Ring, the cast includes Kevin Morrow, Christy Morris, Mike Devine, Karen McPherson, Angela Rossi, Kate Connelly, Todd Moos and Paul Beatty. Set in June 1953, ‘Moon Over Buffalo’, Ludwig’s raucous farce, captures the rich pandemonium in a small theater company’s attempt to stage a show and adds merciless complications for heightened comedic effect. The play focuses on a second-rate, dysfunctional theater troupe led by George and Charlotte Hay, two seasoned hams with dreams of glory.  Fate has given them one more shot at starring roles in The Scarlet Pimpernel epic and director Frank Capra himself is en route to Buffalo to catch their matinee performance.  Unfortunately, Capra’s timing couldn’t be worse and they are forced to deal with jealousies, mistaken identities, drunkenness and hilarious misunderstandings.  However, they make every effort to salvage their production and stay true to that old stage mantra: The show must go on. Originally opening on Broadway in 1995, the play is known for bringing Carol Burnett back to live theater after 30 years and earning her a Tony Award nomination for best actress.

Two Shows: 1pm & 2:30pm (GREAT FOR KIDS AGE 6+)

The winter woods abound with signs of animals. Many mammals on Cape Cod do not hibernate for the winter. They are for the most part nocturnal so we know of their existence and activity by the signs left behind. Mice scurry across paths, zipping out of and into snowy tunnels. Squirrels dig for nut and acorn caches, leaving behind the remnants of a meal. Raccoons amble along paths and then lumber up to the tree tops for a daytime snooze on top of an old bird or squirrel nest. Mary Beers, teacher and naturalist for 25 years, and Director of Education for the Thornton Burgess Society in Sandwich, studied animal tracking with renowned tracker and author Paul Rezendes. Come learn from Mary about common animal tracks and signs through a hands-on indoor activity and a short outdoor exploration!

Happy Endings in the Black Box Theater – A new play by Jane Perkins

Fridays and Saturdays, January 13-28 at 7pm

Happy Endings is a comedy about the most serious of subjects — death. Not making light of it but seeing the light within it.  Jane Perkins’ work as a hospice nurse helps usher people to the next life with dignity and comfort, to accept and at times welcome death.  Through Jane’s performance the audience will share what she sees every day: the joy in the pain, the humor in the sadness, the spirit in the bleakness.  It’s a heavenly trip all of us will take eventually.  Jane wants to take a look at it now.  And to share her observations and views with you.

All tickets are $12. To purchase tickets, please visit the website above or call 508-428-0669.
