Expand Your Mind in Falmouth

February 10, 2014

One of the best perks about living in a town that has a world-renown scientific community is that often, there are great events that allow us to go and learn something new!

Whether it’s an event held by the Falmouth Museums on the Green to discuss how to research the Historical Novel that you are secretly writing or to listen to a presentation about William Butler Yeats and enjoy breakfast at the Falmouth Public Library, there is bound to be something that will pique your interest in Falmouth.

The Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL) and the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute (WHOI) often have lecture series that present topics about our oceans and studies that are being done in the area.  Often, these lectures are presented by scientists who are leaders in their field.

Falmouth is a wonderful town that boasts many diverse citizens who are more than happy to share their passions with the public.  The best thing is that most of these great events are free to the public!

The Falmouth Chamber of Commerce has a very comprehensive list of what is going on and when.  Check it out – you might be surprised to see something that interests you, whether it’s a lecture on Chopin or an event that benefits a cause that you hold near and dear to your heart, like a dog park bowling event.   These events are held throughout the year, so when you are planning your next trip to the Cape, you might want to check out the calendar and see if there’s something there that might interest you! Why not learn a little something new while you are on vacation?

Take Home a Memory of Cape Cod

February 3, 2014

Art Bars are becoming quite the rage – especially here on Cape Cod.  Whether you enjoy one of the smaller events held at a local restaurant (The British Beer Company in Falmouth has held a few Art Parties) or you head to a workshop held at one of the many art studios and centers on Cape Cod, it’s a great way to spend time with friends or loved ones and go home with more than just a memory!

The Cape Cod Art Bar, located in the Mashpee Commons, is a really fun place that offers classes, private events, and just a really good time.

They offer a calendar of events and you simply select which event you want to attend.  Once you select, you and your friends sign up either online or via phone.  They allow you to BYOB so if you would like to bring some wine or a tasty beverage, you are more than welcome to do so!

After you get there, they supply you with all the supplies and you just paint!

It’s a great way to spend time together and go home with more than just a memory of your time together.  You end up taking home a beautiful unique painting that you made yourself!

Next time you are visiting us, check out their schedule and enjoy a fun night out!
