Dining in Falmouth – Osteria La Civetta

March 11, 2014

While everyone knows that Cape Cod is known for its seafood choices and of course lobster, some of the better known locations are often overlooked.  Over the next few blog posts, we want to introduce you to some of the best that Falmouth (and other parts of the Cape) has to offer when it comes to dining out.

Osteria La Civetta, Main Street Falmouth

Osteria La Civetta, Main Street Falmouth

Osteria La Civetta is located right on Main Street, Falmouth.  The restaurant offers lunch Wednesday through Saturday and dinner Tuesday through Sunday.  Featuring northeastern Italian food from the Emilia Romagna region, you will find yourself surrounded by dishes made from scratch and individually prepared to order.

Osteria

Priding themselves on using local and fresh ingredients, the chefs at Osteria La Civetta shop locally and use seasonal products in their dishes.  Because they cook seasonally, the menu often changes depending on the season.  Before booking a reservation, you should check the website and see what is offered on the menu.  Chances are pretty good that no matter what the season, you will find something that you love.

In addition to great food, they offer  a very good selection of Italian wines from all regions of Italy as well as grappas and lemoncellos.  There is also a full bar offering imported beers, mixed drinks, and martinis.

A small restaurant that offers some of the best Italian food south of the North End and north of Federal Hill is not something to be missed.  Next time you are staying in Falmouth, you should consider booking a reservation for this hidden gem on Main Street in Falmouth. Your taste buds will thank you.

St. Patrick’s Day on Cape Cod

March 3, 2014

March is known as the start of spring, the beginning of wild weather that comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb, and of course, that one day where we all wear green. We all love that one day where, no matter what our heritage, we get to be Irish for a day.

On Cape Cod, where many of us can trace our roots back to Ireland, we are no different when it comes to celebrating St. Patrick’s Day.  The Cape Cod St. Patrick’s Day Parade is this Saturday, March 8, 2014.  This parade starts in South Yarmouth and ends in West Yarmouth.  While it may not be as legendary as the parade in South Boston or in Chicago, it does draw its own level of celebrity with this year’s Grand Marshal, Charlie Moore of NESN and NBC Sports.

With floats, bands, and all things Irish, this is a great way to come out and see what people consider to be the best things about being Irish!

Take Home a Memory of Cape Cod

February 3, 2014

Art Bars are becoming quite the rage – especially here on Cape Cod.  Whether you enjoy one of the smaller events held at a local restaurant (The British Beer Company in Falmouth has held a few Art Parties) or you head to a workshop held at one of the many art studios and centers on Cape Cod, it’s a great way to spend time with friends or loved ones and go home with more than just a memory!

The Cape Cod Art Bar, located in the Mashpee Commons, is a really fun place that offers classes, private events, and just a really good time.

They offer a calendar of events and you simply select which event you want to attend.  Once you select, you and your friends sign up either online or via phone.  They allow you to BYOB so if you would like to bring some wine or a tasty beverage, you are more than welcome to do so!

After you get there, they supply you with all the supplies and you just paint!

It’s a great way to spend time together and go home with more than just a memory of your time together.  You end up taking home a beautiful unique painting that you made yourself!

Next time you are visiting us, check out their schedule and enjoy a fun night out!
