Weather

February 6, 2013

Good evening everyone,

Just wanted to warn people of the winter storm heading this way.  The Weather Channel is currently projecting the Cape to get 1″-3″, however the Boston area could receive upwards of 12″+!  Friday appears to be a mix of snow, then rain then snow again.  They have announced a few weather advisories for our area: A coastal flood watch, a high wind watch, and a winter storm watch for Friday and Saturday.  Take a look at this video from The Weather Channel for the current projections: http://bcove.me/6norrxha.  If you plan on weathering the storm at the resort there is the possibility of power outages in the area, and driving will be difficult so you may want to arrive early.  If you plan to arrive early please contact your resort ahead of time to let them know.  The resorts will make sure we are prepared for any power outages as well.  Check out this video from The Weather Channel if you haven’t driven in the snow/ice before, or if you need a reminder: http://bcove.me/x5hhxj20.

Surfside Update

November 2, 2012

Good Morning All,

Nstar worked at restoring power very late last night.  Currently Surfside’s power was not restored and management at the resort have been contacting Nstar to rush technicians back out to the property.  They have also been contacting Comcast to get their cable and telephone lines running.  We are crossing our fingers that technicians will be able to restore all power today.  We will keep everyone updated!

Resort Updates 2

November 1, 2012

Good Afternoon everyone!

Captain’s Quarters phone lines/cable were down for a short time on Monday – Tuesday afternoon.  Tuesday afternoon before 3pm the cable and telephone lines were back in order.  Other than that, Captain’s Quarters is just fine.  Surfside on the other hand is still without power and phone lines are currently down.  Any upcoming guests/owners are asked to please contact Captain’s Quarters (508-548-1010) to speak with a resort agent as we are making sure all messages and calls are returned by a resort employee from either Captain’s Quarters or Surfside immediately.  Captain’s Quarters employees have been updated on Surfside’s current state and Surfside’s Asst. General Manager Keath Driscoll has been diligently contacting all upcoming arrivals for tomorrow to update them on the situation.  We are hoping Surfside’s power will be restored late tonight, however we are not sure exactly if/when that will happen.

Resort Updates During the Storm

October 29, 2012

Hello everyone!  We are weathering the storms here in Falmouth!  As far as we know Surfside’s power went out awhile ago and has not come back on.  NECN is filming from Surfside, so check it out!  We just watched a little of it on TV, and it really depicts how harsh the winds and surf are down here.  Captain’s Quarters power was strong until a few minutes ago when it started going out for a moment and then turning back on.  Hopefully we luck out and don’t lose power for any longer than that!  The winds have really picked up, the general manager and I just walked back over to the Heights beach and the sea spray was blasting everywhere.  There is a big sandbar on the beach now in places, and the waves are crashing down even harder now.  The water hasn’t risen above the steps yet which is good!  The water has gone over in places along Menahaunt Rd. by Surfside though.  The road is closed, however some cars still attempt to drive down it.  The sand has gone way over the road in front of Surfside making it impossible to see the actual road in spots.
